Our Appointment System

Appointment slots with our doctors are opened up for pre- booking up to two weeks, one week or two working days ahead. 

We also operate an Acute Illness Clinic each day; Monday - Friday between 8.30am - 9.30am for new problems –patients may just present at the surgery between these times and be seen by one of the doctors ( or nurse practitioner ) working that day.

Patients who are in need of ‘urgent’ (ie same day) assessment or treatment will be contacted by the Duty Doctor for that day and advice given over the telephone or arrangements made to be seen in surgery.

Nursing clinics run daily and appointments are available to book in advance or on the day, where available.

When dealing with requests for same day assessments, our receptionists are asked to take some details of the problem to ensure that the doctor on call can give priority to those patients with the greatest clinical need.  Reception staff may also ask for an indication of problem to ensure that the correct appointments are booked.   There is no obligation to provide this information but patients may not be contacted with the degree of urgency their problem requires or be asked to re-book with another professional if attending a clinic not intended for that purpose ( e.g. attending the Acute Illness Clinic for a diabetic review / cervical smear etc ).


Demand is carefully monitored - please use the appointments system responsibly.

Acute Illness Clinic

We offer an open surgery system from 08:30 am to 9.30 am, Monday to Friday to see a GP or Nurse Practitioner. Please note that this is for ACUTE ILLNESS only.  There will be a designated Booking In Desk in Reception for Acute Illness Surgery bookings only.  All other appointment requests will need to be booked with Reception either in person or via telephone (01673 862232) from 08:30am.  General enquiries from 09:00am.  We are not able to offer you a choice of doctor but guarantee you will be seen by one of the GP’s or Nurse Practitioner's if you present between 08:30am and 9.30am Monday to Friday.

Nurse Practitioner

We have a Nurse Practitioner who has undertaken further training at degree level to advance her assessment and diagnostic skills. She is able to prescribe if required. Please check with the reception staff to see if you are able to be seen by the nurse practitioner.

Extended hours appointments which are normally provided on days which fall on a bank holiday will be reallocated and provided within the two week period before or after the bank holiday. 

Appointments System

We are always trying to improve our appointments system so that patients are offered a mutually convenient time and not kept waiting unnecessarily for the doctor. On occasions the doctor may be called away on an emergency - we will try to keep you informed if this happens and offer you a suitable alternative.

Please help us by cancelling appointments you no longer wish to keep.

All consultations are confidential but it helps if you could let our receptionists know if you are coming for a cervical smear, vaccination, review of long term condition or other procedure so you are offered a suitable length appointment and we can be adequately prepared to deal with your needs.
